We all need to do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19, and for New Hope Borough Council, Borough Administration and staff, that means doing all we can to protect and support our neighbors, our small businesses, and our community.
Council has scaled back meetings to essential business, and many upcoming meetings are cancelled, including the upcoming April 6 Council Workshop and the April 7 HARB meeting.
Council President Connie Gering explains, "Since our best defense against the coronavirus is strict social distancing, we’re meeting only when necessary, while making every effort to be accessible without risking anyone’s health."
In support of the Governor’s declaration, New Hope Borough Council is holding a public meeting via teleconference this Friday, March 27, with the sole agenda item being to authorize an extension of Mayor Keller’s Declaration of Disaster Emergency. The public can join this meeting via telephone conference by following the instructions posted on the Borough website.
Connie Gering: “The extension of the Emergency Declaration allows the Borough to continue to respond to the COVID pandemic by authorizing the Borough’s Emergency Management Coordinator, Chief Cummings, under the advice and guidance of Council, to expend funds and resources associated with the emergency to allow the Borough to quickly take necessary administrative actions to address the emergency.”
While Borough buildings are closed to public access, the administration is fully staffed and most are working remotely, responding to your calls and emails. Police, Public Works and other critical operations are also fully functional.
Building and electrical inspectors who work for the Borough on contract are not able to perform their work while the Governor’s "Stay-at-Home" Order is in effect. Without inspections, the Borough cannot issue new permits, therefore no new permit applications can be accepted at this time. Permits that were already in-progress are also on hold.
As always, call 215-862-3347 or email email@example.com with any questions or concerns – we remain fully staffed as we all do our part to make it through these challenging time.
Council President Gering reminds everyone that New Hope Borough is here to help. Our Borough website is continuously updated with information on Borough operations. We have created and are keeping a running list on the Borough website of local businesses that are open for take-out, delivery or online ordering. They could all use your support.
